Susan Atkins, aka Sadie Mae Glutz, Dead at 61

Susan At Sept. 2nd Parole Hearing
Steven, Susan  & Michael in 1950s
Well, Susan finally achieved the freedom she had so long sought, albeit in a pine box.

Dead at 11:45 pm on September 24, 2009, at the Central Women’s Facility in Chowchilla, California, Susan is the first of the five Tate-LaBianca murderers to die.

As of this publishing, there was no information given as to whether or not her husband/lawyer, James Whitehouse was with her when she passed, nor any details on the transfer of her corpse or burial details.

Linda Deutsch of the Associated Press broke the news early this morning and she was a fitting reporter to do so, as it was Linda as a cub reporter who sat vigil everyday in the Hall of Justice courtroom, witnessing first hand The Family spectacle in the halls and listening everyday to the grizzly testimony given about the murders in ‘69.

Susan is survived by her husband James and her two brothers Steven and Michael and as yet no public announcement has been made by any family member.

Her last words spoken in public were done so at her final parole hearing in front of the Board of Prison Terms, as she was wheeled into the room on a gurney, “My God is an amazing God.”

It is now, at this hour, that Susan Atkins is finally finding out if He truly is.
