Great song and video. I love this site, but it sure makes me feel old sometimes! I remember actually watching this on TV on the Sullivan show.

Yeah, Carol, I can't seem to stay away from the essence of these times, often hitting me in the emotional gut as much as August 9th...

We lost a ton that day and days after, and I'm trying to remind people of that as I go...

Right back at ya with that "old" feeling...

And thank-you for really liking to hang around TLB2 for a moment or two...maybe we all need to be back in '69 for just that long...

I love this site, MsBurb, because I remember the 60s so well and it brings me back (even though it makes me feel old). And speaking of August 9th: RIP, Sharon, Jay, Abigail, Voytek, Steven, Rosemary and Leno, Gary Hinman, and Donald Shea. And Baby Paul Polanski.

“Return To Sender”…Charlie At Cielo on THAT Night?

Of all the IMs and emails I receive on The Manson Family topic, one in particular stands head and shoulders above the rest… “MsBurb, what’s your opinion? Did Charlie return to Cielo Drive after the killers returned to Spahn?” This, above all others, seems to be the burning question. Beyond the answer, one wonders why, above all other enquiries on this complicated set of events, this particular mystery seems to need some sort of solution? I’ve given it some thought, (without spraining my brain, of course!) and I tend to think that there is some part of us which is STILL trying to either, 1) make some logical sense out of these wholly senseless acts; or 2) put Charlie at the Tate crime scene to believe that he was indeed responsible for these crimes; or 3) make sense of his following actions, that to go back and see what he saw, there at Tate, was the real reason he joined in with his killers the following night, knowing that after all that, there would be no turning back. We always say Rest In Peace for the Dead…but I wonder sometimes if it’s the Living who need the peace… Such has been the on and off fate of William “Bill” Eston Garretson, now aged 62, the only surviving witness of the Tate-Labianca two nights of Manson horror. Researchers have often cited the LAPD as having conducted shoddy investigative procedures in this case but by and large, for that era, for the technology available and for the fact that this set of crimes basically eclipsed all others in Los Angeles as the most gruesome ever perpetrated on persons of affluence in that town, I basically give the police a pass.
