Bruce Davis Parole…The $64,000 Question - YOUR Decision

Image
I have no doubt that prison life is despicable, and anyone who has two grey cells to rub together certainly obsesses about being free of such confines… But when do you finally decide, if ever, to say enough is enough? Enough hashing over the crimes, enough saying I’m sorry, enough contrite expressions to Parole Board members who mean nothing to you… Charles Manson long ago gave up the fight for freedom as even he, in his more lucid moments, knew that if anyone associated with these crimes would be punished indefinitely, whether as a political prisoner or not, Charlie would be that person, so enough was enough, for him, quite some time ago. But for the members of Charlie’s Family, knowing when enough would be, has not been quite as defined, and their yearning for freedom, in any form, be it parole, indefinite monitoring or term served, has never been quenched. And specifically for Bruce Davis, this coming Thursday January 28th (if not postponed by the Board of Prison Terms,...

Bruce Davis Parole…$64,000 Question – Part Three

“It’s not like Bruce just jay-walked in front of Hinman and Shea, ya know!” , I said to myself. The Board of Prison Terms has a extremely difficult time coming to a decision for or against an early release date, especially when it comes to convicted multiple First Degree murderers. Or maybe they don’t. Maybe they look at the more than one count with no voluntary admissions to the authorities as to the actions of his cohorts or the whereabouts of Shorty Shea’s grave and say, “Nope, this dude ain’t seein’ the light of day no-how!” But if that were the case, then why would the lawyers of these multiple First Degree murder convicts insist that attending these Parole Hearings was anything but a waste of time? Charlie Manson gave up years ago, knowing full well that such efforts were an exercise in futility…but the members of his Family continue to attend. And for Bruce, like the others, his parole hearing denial numbers are now in the double digits, the...

Bruce Davis Parole…$64,000 Question – Part Two

We all have weaknesses, don’t we? If we’re human. And MsBurb’s weakness is trusting everyone , all the time, right out of the gate, as it were. Yep, you’d think I would have out-grown this child-like approach to Life and my fellow oxygen-breathers, but I haven’t. That is why evidence and facts are so important to me when I attempt to establish if, in my own mind, any of The Manson Family killers are suitable for release. Because if I just believed everything they said in their statements, my six-year-old mind would say, “Let’em out already! They’re good people now, honest!” Yep, I’d be sayin’ that right up to the time that they found me in my home, shortly after midnight on a hot summer’s night…sigh… So, after my initial reading of Bruce Davis’ 1993 Parole Hearing transcript and recovering from my dizzy waffling on the believability of his rehabilitation and remorse, I sat back, took a few days off, and returned to the transcript, line-by-line, to see if his statements were m...

Bruce Davis Parole…The $64,000 Question - Part One

MsBurb had planned on doing  this FANTASTIC post on the issue of whether or not Bruce Davis now deserves parole, his next hearing scheduled for 10:30 a.m., January 28, 2010, some 40 years after he first surrendered to the authorities at the Hall of Justice, December 2nd, 1970. It was going to be an all-encompassing, dispassionate, true marvel of evidential literary genius. Yep, and then I read the entire transcript of the 1993 Parole Hearing , thanks to catscradle77 at Truth On The Tate-LaBianca Forums ! And my mind imploded. I sought solace and relief from a friend of mine, you might know him by name – Mr. Poirot – who guest authors on TLB2 about as often as Haley’s comet streaks by my night sky. This dude is amazing…no, really!>>> His B.S. meter is so finally tuned, he can spot a career liar 2000 miles away, well, whatever mileage it may be from his house to Bruce’s “house”. I, on the other hand, spent the better part of a couple hours pouring over that hearing...
